Proclaimers Church outfits multi‑function worship space with Electro‑Voice PA system
When Proclaimers Church purchased a new, larger worship space within a Norwich industrial estate, they knew that their old ground-stacked PA system would no longer suffice. Uniquely, this Hillsong Family evangelical church uses the auditorium as its sanctuary for worship services on the weekends, but also operates during the week as part of The Space, seating up to 450 for corporate meetings and conferences.
This multi-functional approach required a sound system combining intelligibility and musical fidelity. After listening to demo systems from several brands, Proclaimers selected Electro-Voice for its ability to deliver the sound quality they desired within their budget. The church engaged Norfolk-based Audio Electronic Design, an award-winning specialist in worship sound, to design and install the system.
The team decided to go with the Electro-Voice EVA system, augmented with QRx subwoofers. The EVA Series is a line array system specifically designed for fixed installations applications, with a sleek cabinet design that hides unsightly rigging hardware. Significantly, its high impedance design reduced the system’s power requirements, helping keep costs under control.
Full coverage throughout the 20x24-meter space is provided by twin arrays of three Electro-Voice EVA-2082S loudspeakers, in black to match the room’s backdrop. The two top speakers employ a narrow 90x6-degree output for long-throw coverage, while the third speaker uses a wider 120x20-degree dispersion to ensure even coverage for the center and front seats while minimizing unwanted reflections from the side walls. Each array also sports one Electro-Voice QRx-218S subwoofer for low frequency support.
The entire Proclaimers Church system is powered by just two Electro-Voice TG-7 stereo amplifiers. The amps are equipped with RCM-28 DSP modules to enable complete supervision and control via the EV IRIS-Net software. As a result, the Electro-Voice sound system is equally appropriate for Proclaimers Church services on weekends and its business needs as The Space during the week.
