Electro-Voice XLC at the Rijnweek Festival, Netherlands

An Electro-Voice XLC sound system ensured the week-long Rijnweek Festival, held recently in Rhenen, The Netherlands, sounded superb. Culminating in a grand finale attended by over 30,000 people on July 12th, the festival presented a vast and diverse range of Dutch and international talent from across many genres. E-Audio Benelux and Stagepoint BV were charged with the task of producing the week-long music spectacular.

From July 5-12, 2008, the Dutch town of Rhenen once again became the focal point of the pop and rock scene in the Netherlands, thanks to the Rijnweek Festival, now firmly established as one of the most popular events in the Dutch festival calendar. The final concert alone, held on the 12th July and featuring acts like Zlotavond, Jeroen van der Boom, and Frans Bauer, drew an audience of over 30,000.

Tiel-based rental company Stagepoint BV was responsible for the production of the week-long event this year, supported by tour specialists Dryhire and Electro-Voice/Midas partner in the Netherlands, E-Audio Benelux. To bring out the best in each of the varied acts booked for the festival this year, the Stagepoint team led by System Engineer Sander de Kruif opted for Electro-Voice systems, with the centrepiece of the production comprising an XLC 127 DVX compact line-array system, Xsub bass cabinets, and RCM-controlled TG amplifiers--all from Electro-Voice.

E-Audio Benelux MD Axel Nagtegaal commented: “The musical spectrum at this year’s festival was particularly broad but the XLC system proved just as effective for pop acts as for the subtle country folk of Ilse de Lange. The response we received for this production was truly outstanding.”
