Natsuko Kondo

May 4th, 2009

Electro-Voice is proud to welcome Japanese singer-songwriter Natsuko Kondo to its family of microphone endorsers. For years, Kondo has used a wide variety of dynamic microphones for her powerful, energetic performances, unable to find a single microphone that could completely satisfy her requirements. She has finally settled on Electro-Voice’s PL80c as her permanent onstage mic.

Natsuko says: “In the past I used any dynamic microphone - it wasn’t a very scientific process - I simply chose the ones that had cute logo marks! Then I had a microphone shootout to determine which mic really was the best for me, including a total of four Electro-Voice dynamic and condenser microphones.

“I tested the N/D767a dynamic microphone and the RE510 condenser microphone at rehearsals, and I found that the RE510’s response from my monitor speakers was very quick and natural, but in the end I chose the N/D767a because it really matched my rock music.“

During the following week’s studio rehearsal, Natsuko tried an N/D967 dynamic microphone and PL80c dynamic microphone. “My impressions of the RE510 and N/D767a were similar when I used them during my live performances, but I found both the N/D967 and the PL80c even more solid for rock. At my studio rehearsals, after discussion with my band members, manager, and EVI Audio, we decided that the PL80c was the best fit with my sound and also a good blend with the band.

“I don’t know a lot about the technical components of microphones,“ she adds, “- it’s all about what sounds the most natural. I felt PL80c was the microphone that most honestly delivers my songs and lyrics to my fans. And I liked the color! The PL80 series has the same great sound quality with black model PL80a and beige model PL80c, so I picked the cute one!“

Kondo will be taking the stage with her Electro-Voice PL80c this summer on July 25 in Osaka Ruido. Tickets are still available. For more information, click here to visit her Web site.
