World Class Stadium Sound from Electro-Voice at Estadio Monumental De Maturin

August 6th, 2007

A tournament held between the national soccer teams of all the different countries in the Americas, this year’s Copa America took place in Venezuela, where Electro-Voice pro audio distributors Audio Concept C.A. worked with the Venezuelan government to specify and supply a sound system for Estadio Monumental de Maturin-one of the most modern stadiums in Latin America-as part of a major civic investment in the tournament. Audiomix were the installation contractors for this prestigious project.

“EV equipment was selected in the light of its flawless performances at numerous stadiums around Germany for last year’s World Cup,“ reports Nicolas Betancur of Bosch Communications Systems. “That success, with particular regard to EV’s NetMax networked matrices and IRIS-Net control and supervision software, gave the assurance of proven functionality and sound quality the clients were looking for in this partnership. We built upon the basic system design approach in place at Allianz Arena in Munich, and, thanks largely to the technical support of Bosch Communications Systems’ Ethan Wetzell (NetMax/IRIS-Net Product Specialist) and George Georgallis (Senior Applications Specialist, Technical Services Group) developed a system here that’s equally impressive.“

The 52,000-seat stadium now boasts a sound system commonly held by fans and critics alike to be the best in the tournament, featuring 74x FRX+940 and 32x FRX+181 loudspeakers, powered by 27x P3000RL remote control DSP amplifiers, all networked via 5x NetMax N8000 units, all controlled via IRIS-Net software.

“When a company is involved in the world of high-end technology, it must sometimes go out of its way to do a flagship project; it must raise the bar to the highest level possible in the highest level market,“ says Jean Paul Gaspard of Audio Concept C.A. “By doing this it sets a new standard-both in product and know-how-for all projects and day-to-day sales that follow. It’s very difficult for someone to compete once you achieve that level. This is what Audio Concept, Audiomix and Bosch Communications Systems did in the Pro Audio market with this venue.“

Indeed, competition to achieve the best sound was heated at the various tournament stadiums across the nation’s provinces, but the winning system spoke for itself. “At Maturin, EV was proven as the preeminent stadium sound system manufacturer,’ adds Betancur, “it was just crazy to see everybody suddenly cheer as if a goal had been scored whenever the audio was turned on! We put on anything from classical to reggae through the PA, and the crowd stood up and danced every time. Everyone who hears it loves this system.“

The system is used for music (BGM and main PA depending on the event) and paging. It also runs parallel to a stadium-wide security system featuring Bosch security cameras-an indication of the complete sound & security system solutions the Bosch Communications Systems is now positioned to provide.
