Electro-Voice Concert Sound Systems Training in Bangkok

December 16th, 2011

Electro-Voice (EV) held its first Concert Sound Systems Training in Bangkok on November 28 and 29, 2011. The two-day session was attended by most of the Bosch ProSound employees in Asia, and existing EV line-array loudspeaker users. New EV X-Line line-array loudspeaker system user CenterPoint kindly provided the venue for the event. CenterPoint, owners of the venue and also a touring company, chose X-Line and TG amplifiers as their main sound reinforcement system. QRX was also chosen for their monitoring and supplementary needs.

The training was conducted by Mr. Phil Scobee, Product Manager for Electro-Voice Concert Sound Systems, who has spent most of his career on the road with EV line arrays in the USA, most notably as Director of Operations for Morris Leasing, where he was responsible for Kenny Chesney’s tour sound. Scobee has used EV X-Line and XLC systems at 60 of the largest stadiums in the U.S., and he shared his experiences with colleagues and friends in APR. The training covered system design, rigging, and configuration, as well as LAPS (Line Array Prediction Software) updates. X-Line was put through the paces. TG-series amplifiers were also effectively demonstrated, and attendees were awed by new FIR-Drive DSP settings for loudspeaker performance enhancement.

"If I’d closed my eyes and listened, I wouldn’t have guessed that it was the same loudspeaker system that I’ve heard so many times before," says Patrick Hau, Product Marketing Manager, Asia Pacific Region. EV has dedicated their time to engineering better sound out of the same box instead of following the recent trend of just giving a loudspeaker a facelift. Keep the facelifts for the automobile manufacturers! It was clearly demonstrated that EV is dedicated to both protecting and enhancing the investment of its existing customers.”

Scobee’s presentation and training session was supported the Regional Sales Office team including Patrick Hau, Edward Chia, and Ronnie Lai, and their Bosch Thailand ProSound colleagues.
