UK’s Glastonbudget festival pays tribute with Electro-Voice

June 14th, 2010

Together, OneBigStar and EV distributor Shuttlesound were pleased to see Europe’s largest festival for tribute bands and new acts turn into a veritable showcase for Electro-Voice PA systems. Now in its 6th year, Glastonbudget has become a serious fixture on the UK festival circuit, and sold out nearly 7,000 tickets over its 3-day weekend.

With four stages on site, OneBigStar was able to draw on the full range of Electro-Voice’s line array and point-source reinforcement options, using EV speaker processing with every system.

For the main stage, which hosted the headlining tribute acts, the system used XLC cabinets, flown 12 a side with low-end support from EV Xsubs, all powered by EV Tour Grade amplifiers. Under the big top tent, which housed a second stage mainly used by new acts, the system featured a combination of super-compact EV XLE line array boxes and QRx cabinets, all powered by EV CP series amplifiers.

Two smaller stages were in action in the marquees, which proved incredibly popular on the festival’s second day when the rain arrived! The first, sponsored by local community organization Charnwood Arts, used EV’s Phoenix system, with multi-purpose Tour X PA loudspeakers and stage monitors taking on all comers in the Campsite Bar.

Sean Maxwell of Shuttlesound appraised the weekend event as “a singular opportunity to show the breadth and depth of Electro-Voice’s product offering for a multi-stage event. Not only did we have the correct loudspeaker and amplifier match for these four very different stages, but we had a variety of EV microphones in performers’ hands as well. OneBigStar, and particularly front-of-house engineer for the main stage Neal Allen, were pleased to have an easy life, just dealing with one supplier and enjoying the benefits of through-the-range compatibility and integration.”
