Sound Contracting Bring EV’ Sound Solutions to Lincoln, CA, Church Youth Center

March 3, 2005

“We were approached by the Heritage Church to provide systems for the various rooms newly designed into the old theatre space, which comprise of the Heritage Oak Room (main performance space, capacity 350), the Live Oak Room (coffee bar-style performance venue, capacity 68), Blue Oak Room (conference/small event space, occupancy 88), and a fully equipped game room. We found we could provide top quality sound within their budget using a combination EV QRx™, FRi™ and Sx™ loudspeakers. The idea was to install multi-purpose systems that would sound great for community functions, drama, movies and youth rallies, as well as live music of various styles. Plus, as the spaces are available for outside rental, we needed to establish a reputation for quality, clarity and reliability.“

“The Heritage Oak room features a “surround sound’ system, comprised of one QRx212(H)/75™ 2x12“ each at left, right and center, FRi-118S™ subs, and a rear LCR configuration of Sx300E™ boxes. The QRx212 boxes are real touring-quality boxes that offer all the rigging and pattern control features we needed. Four EV CPS2.8™ and one CPS2.4™amplifiers power all the speakers in the main room. A Lutron™ lighting system controller interfaces with a Crestron™ controller for preprogrammed audio/lighting settings - theatrical surround sound, services, music playback and various other scene settings. 10 keypads located in various exits and stairways extend this controllability further. The main room also features a Mercury® HD digital projector onto a 180-inch flat screen, flanked by 2 InFocus® projectors onto 90-inch screens. The whole system offers a mixture of high tech video and lighting, theatrical attention to atmosphere and audio/visual detail, along with tons of headroom for louder musical applications. All this basically translates into night-to-night versatility.“

“Investing in this audio and lighting system has really paid off nicely, most importantly as an asset to the community.”

Liles added: “Robert Guiller, the Pastor at Heritage Church, is a Pastor with real vision, who understands the importance of the church as a place for all members of the community to gather - especially young people looking for social activities. Prior to the restoration of the Heritage Theatre, there was no place for theatre or live music of any real production quality in Lincoln. Now we have all this under one roof. The Sx300E’s in the coffee bar are ideal for the acoustic acts and duos we have in there, and can be easily moved around the facility with the rolling drive rack we put together. And, in the main room, we have a pro-quality performance space for which our rep Skip Godwin contacted EV loudspeaker expert Jim Long to help with placement and time delay - we wanted to match David Barrios’ superb lighting design with the best sound possible. When you work with EV, you work with the best people as well as the best equipment - it all adds up to considerable added value.“

“We finished the system in mid December. Even on opening night, we had lots of interest from local school districts and businesses looking for conference facilities. This is a non-profit organization that now has the potential to raise considerable funds towards the new church site. Investing in this audio and lighting system has really paid off nicely, most importantly as an asset to the community.“
